Collages

We have made some eye catching pieces of art. This is the collage
Rawiri and I made. The collage is based around our topic for this
term which is plastic. We had to include the beach, the ocean,
some mountains and the sky. We had to draw sea creatures,
cut them out, colour them in with pastel and then we glued them on.
We finally put little ripped up bits of plastic to resemble the plastic
that always ends up on our beaches. It shows that we use too much
plastic and we should stop because it harms marine life and
creatures that live on the land.

I think that we could use some different coloured sea animals so
they don't blend in as much as they do now. I like the way how the
art is really bright so the animals catch everyone's eyes.

Persuasive Letter

In room 5 we had to write a letter to our principal to not use as many plastic  bags in our  bins. There are  three main paragraphs and the words that start the paragraphs are  firstly, secondly and finally.

 10th September 2018
 Dear Mrs Wallace,
At Awahono School we use plastic bin liners, and we don’t need to use them in our bins we could use them only in the chicken bins and in the green bins. I believe that we don't need plastic bin liners. Here are three good reason why I think that we should not use plastic bin liners in most of our bins.

Firstly, we use a lot of bags in a in a year, about 2000 a year. We would save money if we didn’t use so much. If we use three a day for the wet food scraps we won't use as much money and we can use the money to buy the things that the school needs. We use 10 bags a day, 50 bags a week, 500 a term about 2000 a year. That is a lot of plastic to go through.

Secondly, plastic is pollution. After we’ve throw them away they end up in landfill and they might end up in the ocean. Then a little fish might eat it then a big fish might eat that little fish and then a bigger fish might eat it and then we might eat that bigger fish and we could die. That would not be good at all. So we should be using less plastic bags.

Finally, we don't need the plastic bags in most of the bins because we only put dry rubbish in the classroom bins. We could use plastic bags in the chicken and the green bins only.

In conclusion, I think that we should only use three bags a day to put wet food scraps in and with the other bin liners that hold dry rubbish we don’t need to use them at all.

Yours sincerely,
 Chloe

The Plastic Toy Shop

In class we have been learning how to describe what we can see in a  plastic toy shop. We are learning to describe not tell. We had to use verbs and nouns, use  senses, smell, feeling, sensations, sight and sounds. We had to use adjectives too.
The Plastic Toy Shop
As I run into the plastic toy shop, I can see  neon ducks, cars,
planes, trains and lots more toys shoved on the shelves. There are
all sorts of colours like green, blue, pink and lots more colours.

I can see two people on a computer. As they type I can hear the
noise of the computer keypad clicking. The two people look like
they are the owners of the plastic toy shop. They look like they
might be filling out the power bill.  I look at the shelves, I am
annoyed because all of this plastic might end up in the ocean
and then the animals might eat it and die.

El Gregoe

On  Tuesday 4 of September El Gregoe came to our school. He came to teach us not to bully. I
